The Constitution Needs Senator Thom Tillis to Hold the Line – Again
Our country is in an increasingly perilous situation. Congressional oversight is weakening, elected officials are feeling intimidated, and there’s a growing disregard for the Constitution and our democratic norms — all the while the presidency is becoming more powerful than ever.
When one branch holds unchecked power, the people lose their voice.
But not everyone in Congress stays silent. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) has spoken out before — and North Carolina needs him to do it again.
In 2019, Tillis opposed a president’s attempt to redirect military funds without congressional approval:
“We may be giving future presidents of both parties a dangerous new tool to circumvent Congress.”
— Senator Thom Tillis, 2019
In 2025, he broke ranks again and pushed back against sweeping tariffs that would devastate North Carolina’s farmers:
“Anyone who says there may be a little bit of pain before we get things right, need to talk to my farmers who are one crop away from bankruptcy… we could do damage that is irreparable.”
— Senator Thom Tillis, 2025
But more is needed. Executive overreach is expanding and North Carolinians have felt the consequences — especially through the Department of Government Efficiency’s dismantling of agencies and resources that help and support North Carolinians across the state. Farmers across North Carolina are losing support as USDA programs shrink or disappear entirely and small towns and coastal communities are watching National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and environmental safety programs get gutted, threatening livelihoods and disaster preparedness.
The moment calls for oversight, courage, and a return to constitutional duty. Senator Tillis has stood on principle before — defending farmers, defending military infrastructure, defending the Constitution. We urge him to do it again.

The Framers warned us: unchecked power destroys liberty. The time for constitutional courage is now.
And once again, the country is looking to Senator Tillis and North Carolina. We call on him to reaffirm congressional constitutional authority under Article I; and to uphold the rule of law, protect our institutions, and keep power where it belongs — in a government of, by, and for the people.
